Hospice in the Weald was founded in 1980 as a small home-care service in West Kent, born out of local community effort to support people with life-limiting illnesses.

Over the decades it has grown from those humble beginnings into a vital palliative care charity serving West Kent and northern East Sussex, expanding its services to include an in-patient ward, day services, outreach and counselling support, all free of charge, as well as innovative new provisions such as children’s care and the Cottage Hospice at Five Ashes.
